Reflections on Dewey and Crane
Jan. 19th, 2004 04:50 pmThe more I read Dewey the more bipolar I get. He says so many wise things that are just practical knowledge for me, but in such a strange context of institutionalization.
He's romantic, colonial, victorian, darwinian, institutional... and well, VICTORIAN! That's the bad side.
But he knows that life is a learning environment, culture is constructed and performed. Learning is pre-natal to berievement, and is above all occuring at the nexus of individuals... oops. More later.
