Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us

Jeremy blogged about this video “Web 2.0 … The Machine is Us/ing Us” and in the name of my courses, everyone should watch it. We’re studying Google and wikis these weeks in the three classes, this includes readings on hacking and the protection of information online… nice to have some visual gems to go along with it.

Master Plan - About the power of Google

Master Plan - About the power of Google is another that Jeremy ran across that I’d also recommend for (C)CLD419ers. After studying what it is all good for, we can now balance it out with someone’s impression of the dark side.

I’m strangely unbothered. Not because I don’t believe that this is true. If it isn’t google, it is someone else, or that all the pieces are already there waiting for someone to do it. As a society we have chosen this path. And as a society we have ensured that we are not putting enough resources into education for critical social democracy for our children. Apolitical voters who are swayed by attack ads and fear are the problem. This is just a symptom. Good video, btw.

In My Language

YouTube - In My Language (use this link if you don’t get the embedded)

A bit of simple and insightful brilliance. JuliaD sent this to me, thinking of the (c)cld419ers. But anyone who has felt misunderstood, or is curious about what in the world they can no longer sense, or [insert variable] should watch it.

The Boy with the Incredible Brain

“A documentary about Daniel Tammet, a British autistic savant gifted with a facility for mathematics problems, sequence memory, and language learning.”

This is an amazing 47 minute video of a wonderful mind.

Funded! Chasing Learning Landscapes

My proposal, “Chasing Learning Landscapes: a Pilot Virtual Learning Environment for Early Childhood Educators in Second Life” was accepted for funding by our school. I’m doing this along with Danny Bakan, and we’ll be building resources for (c)cld419. OH, a happy day!
