Ex-Lemmingworks. ##.

Buridan’s says “i’m pretty geeky”, so I had to check to see if I was.

Your Geek Profile:

Internet Geekiness: High
Academic Geekiness: Moderate
Fashion Geekiness: Moderate
Geekiness in Love: Low
Movie Geekiness: Low
Gamer Geekiness: None
General Geekiness: None
Music Geekiness: None
SciFi Geekiness: None

I’d be low on internet too, except my first modem was 300 baud, and they give points for anything earlier than 14.4k. Geeze. If you had 14.4 you’re still a newbie.

I find it hard to believe you're not geekier than that. How did you score "moderate" and no higher on academic geekiness?

it is because the questions are pseduo-geeky; designed to make non-geeks feel part of the scene.

Academic Geekiness:
You've gone to academic lectures just for fun
- what, am I a freak? I have too much work to do to just hang out at lectures

You have seriously studied at least three fields not related to each other
- medieval studies, children and learning, critical thinking (on and one)

You attend (or have attended) to grad school
- duh

You get almost every Jepordy / Trivial Pursuit question right
- what academic has the time for games?

Same with internet:

Internet Geekiness:
You've been online so long, you're first modem was 14.4 kbps or slower - yep
You used Gopher before the days of the World Wide Web - yep
You regularly get up in the middle of sleeping to check your email - not after trying to fix OJS for 12 hours straight!!!
You're still addicted to IRC after all these years - NO, it was stupid in 1990 and still is.

Now for academic geek:
- do you get a thrill meeting the dissertation supervisors of your dissertation supervisor?
- do you turn down publication options because they're not cool enough

And Internet Geek:
- have you ever communicated with an individual who invented part of the internet
- have you ever pissed off two programmers who hate each other by glomming their code together and getting it to compile?

Those would be geeky!
