My partner (yuka to the rest of you in the know) just found the entry on me: Jason Nolan - Ryerson University at RateMyProfessors.com and seems somewhat upset by it. As you can imagine, I’m not rated that highly for a myriad of sound reasons. I think that RateMyProfessors.com is great as it allows students to blow off steam when they don’t like something but are not in a position to do something about it. After all, educators have always had their own version of it, in the staff lunchroom.

I have the happiest memories of RMP. In one and the same year I got 'What a sweet, sweet old man' and 'Pompous ass -- this kind of proffesor should be culled'. But it can be brutal to the young and the unconfident, esp. as it is out in public and there is no possibility of reply -- once I got a comment supposedly from a student in a course number I had never taught: I sent a rectification, but it might as well have gone straight to the Zimbabwe Post Office for all the effect it had.
But as you say, as long as the profession itself don't pay it no mind, it's a good way for the Young and the Gormless to vent. Also fun to look up colleagues, sneakily.

"Gormless". I blame you for not teaching me that cool word way back when. I personally praise my profs from 1985 who dragged me kicking and screaming through Spencer, Sidney and Billy-bob from Avonlea. Did that this past tuesday in fact.

That said, the fun thing about my job is that I can tell everyone that they too will someday be rated on "RateMyElementaryTeacher.com".
