I got some interesting email from Rob Brautigam who runs shroudeater.com, as someone suggested that I send him a link to my paper “Early British Vampire Fragments: Walter Map’s De Nugis Curialium and William of Newburg’s Historia Rerum Anglicarum” (rtf) that should be coming out this fall in print. He suggested I look at
Repentant soul or walking corpse? Debatable apparitions in Medieval England by Jacqueline Simpson, and it looks good. Just thought I’d share.

That sounds like fun! I've never been obsessed with them, but one of my friends is a famous vampire scholar, and I got sucked in :) Actually, what makes vampires interesting to me is how people learn about them... the curriculum and pedagogy of vampires, and the logical arguments that surround their fact or fiction... hmmm... should have lectured on it for this week :)
