I’m confused, which is why I’m posting. Perhaps someone will enlighten me. There’s a law about the separation of church and state in the US, right? How can someone run for office with the policy of the linking of church and state? What is the role of apocalyptic visions in running a country, and what is the role of ‘god’s will’ in decision making? I know that everyone in the US talks about faith and politics, since one informs the other, but what will happen when one leads it? Sounds like theocracy to me.

I’m scared.

For what it's worth, that's why we have a system of checks and balances. But also for what it's worth, there's no actual constitutional prohibition against linking church and state. All the First Amendment forbids is *mandating* religious worship. The administration can be as Christian as it wants and let priests decide policy, as long as it doesn't declare Christianity the official U.S. religion and/or forbid other religious observances....!

Ack. It is not only legal, but kosher! But then again, Iran does also allow freedom of worship for those of the Jewish, Christian and Zoroastrians, though they do have a state religion.
