I've put my essay writing HowTo online again, after a number of years hiding on my harddrive: http://jasonnolan.net/essaytutorial.html
It is primarily for my CLD121 students, but I thought other folks might get a kick out of it.

Very interesting, indeed I did get a kick out of it. Perhaps I will try to apply some of it in the course of writing my next paper.

(although if it actually decreases my essay writing abilities, then you might be in quite a bit of trouble, good sir!)

Too late for the likes of you, no doubt.Though I found, personally, that reducing my use of prepositional phrases (or left-branched sentences, I can't remember what one calls them) at the beginning of my sentences from 8% to 4% caused an increase in my marks by almost a letter grade in grad school. So finding whatever works for you is the idea. What courses are you taking up there at Great North U?

Its never too late! Unless, perhaps, you think otherwise...

Right now I'm back into the swing of things at York with a couple 1000-level polisci courses (which is my major) and a wonderful sociology course that's masquerading as a natural science. Called 'science and pseudoscience,' it discusses the unusual transition of knowledge claims from findings, sightings, or research into either accepted or 'rejected' knowledge. I'm getting a big kick out of it because we're being painstakingly thorough investigating this process (which is the best kind of thorough), and I'm learning quite a bit about how human society disseminates knowlege from the real world. However, I digress!
