For the third time in the past four years, Ryerson University ranked #1 in the Leaders of Tomorrow category among primarily undergraduate institutions in the 2005 Maclean's reputational survey. The survey is included in the annual Maclean's magazine ranking of Canadian universities.

The University was also ranked third as Best Overall (up two spots from 2004), third as Most Innovative, and fifth in Highest Quality in the reputational rankings of primarily undergraduate institutions. These rankings are determined by a poll of corporate CEOs, university officials, high school principals and heads of organizations.

I honestly can't believe that. Maybe it's because I hear such negative comments about Ryerson, not only from the students at Ryerson but also from the community and from students of other universities.
I think it's great that we are rated that well, but have they actually taken a look at what Ryerson has to offer. I mean we aren't the most advanced school. We lack a lot of great things. For instance, a library that contains recently published books by Canadian authors.
I do think that we have a lot of great programs that prepare students for the 'real world' because we get to have actual hands on experience. So I do think we deserve that number one spot.

Every university's good at something. Ryerson is very cutting edge, and has a lot that UofT doesn't have. If you find something lacking at Ry, you should compare how it might be at other universities. They may be worse. I'm so very happy to be teaching at Ryerson, to be totally frank. And the more time I spend here the stronger that sense gets.
