One of my colleagues showed me the rate my prof's page (http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=789275) and I just have to share the comments:

I think he pulled marks out of thin air. He's pretty nice but does not stay on topic and kept revising what he was going to teach.

Very unclear, disorganized, doesn't know how to teach, unclear marking schemes. Unfair treatment of students.

Duh!

Wow, harsh.

At least you're not on campuswatch, ha!

Also, the 'favourite' professors to a lot of students are the ones who have really easy lectures, and whose exams and assignments are culled directly from in-class material.

Personally, my favourite professors are the ones who stress me out. I'm not learning unless I'm under pressure.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. I've been teaching for 19 years, and anonymous student comments are always something you have to deal with. What is a problem is that when you're teaching students who will in turn become teachers, the hopes for a modicum understanding of the value of a diversity of teaching and learning styles and pedagogical approaches never disappears.

Is that really a keanu icon?

I personally don't know what I'd do myself. Maybe write a little note while marking a paper saying "That was a cute comment on ratemyprofessor.com, but you should've been working on your paper instead of complaining." Ha.

Keanu? Bueller? Mine? Nope. As far as I can tell, that's from the past summer in Egypt, more specifically, one particular excursion to the Sinai. I also kind of forgot to shave for a month.

lol. Never seen you unshaven. Good shot. Next time you're off to Egypt or anywhere in the middle east, let me tag along? I never get farther south than Nice or Marseille.

The Real Middle East isn't conducive to tourism. If you come along, it'll be the real deal.
