Negroponte’s $100 laptop in Orange

Slimmer Linux needed for $100 laptop:
The One Laptop Per Child organization… hopes to distribute 5 million to 10 million of the systems to children in India, China, Brazil, Argentina, Thailand, Egypt, and Nigeria in the first quarter of 2007…. He hopes the project will help supply the world’s billion children with an education that undertrained teachers often can’t supply. “At least 50 percent of those children don’t get anything that even approximates what you and I would call an education,” he said.
That’s all well and good, but it is Orange.

Date: 2006-06-10 11:40 am (UTC)Orange goes with blue, wine, black, green... Strangely enough I always hated orange, but when I was a poor parttimer the only place to get cheap tshirts had orange and black, so I bought some. Since it is a very cartoonish colour, I got to like it.
Oh, computers... you have a good point, but who says that a group must be reasonable in their donations. They have an idea that they want to push and $$ to do it, and I'm sure that they are not demanding that people take it, just offering. I'd say that safe drinking water is most important.
